Shifu Terms of Use

In short: use your own account, use Shifu for your own study, don't copy our content out of Shifu, and remember that Shifu is a study aid, not a guarantee of results.

1. About these terms

Shifu is operated by Vivid Studies (Singapore UEN 53503045B) ("Shifu", "we", "us"). These terms apply to your use of the Shifu website and app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. The Service

Shifu is a study service for students. Its features, subjects and content may change, be added to or be removed over time. Shifu is not a school, doesn't award grades or qualifications, and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any school, examination board or government body.

3. Your account

  • The Service is for students aged 13 and above. If you are under 13, you may use Shifu only with your parent's or guardian's consent.
  • Your account is for you alone. Don't share your login or let anyone else use your account. We may limit the number of devices that can use an account at the same time.
  • Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us at hello@shifu.moe if you think someone else has used your account.
  • Shifu is meant for students only. Sign-up is limited to school email addresses. If you're a private candidate and would like to try Shifu, email us at hello@shifu.moe.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • copy, scrape, download in bulk, redistribute, sell or publish any part of the Service or its content outside the Service, or use bots, scripts or other automated means to access it;
  • use the Service to cheat in any test, examination or graded work;
  • access or attempt to access other users' accounts or data, interfere with the Service or get around any limits we set;
  • submit anything unlawful, abusive or harmful, or anything that infringes another person's rights or includes another person's personal data without their permission.

5. Artificial intelligence

Some features of the Service use artificial intelligence, including answering questions and marking answers. AI-generated content can be inaccurate or incomplete. Marking and feedback in Shifu are guidance only, not official grades. Use your own judgement and check important points with your teacher or tutor.

6. Your content

Anything you submit to the Service (such as answers, messages and photos) remains yours. You give us permission to store, process and use it to provide, maintain and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. You're responsible for making sure you're allowed to submit it.

7. Our content

All content and materials in the Service, including questions, answers, notes, explanations, designs, software, logos and other files, are owned by us or our licensors. You may use them only within the Service, for your own personal study. Nothing in these terms gives you any other right to them.

8. Fees

The Service is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features or plans, we'll tell you the price and terms before you're charged, and you won't be charged without your agreement.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict or close your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have broken these terms or that your use puts the Service or other users at risk. You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account as described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for your particular needs, or that using it will lead to any particular result.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, opportunity or results, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under Singapore law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time by posting the new version on this page. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
